Sea of Thieves: Forsaken Shores release date delayed for a “bug-free experience”
Sea of Thieves’ biggest update yet is Forsaken Shores, and it was scheduled to release this week - but alas, that’s not to be. The free expansion has been delayed just over a week from September 19 to September 27, so it’ll be a bit of extra time before you and your crew can hit the volcanic shores of the Devil’s Roar. “This was not a decision that was taken lightly,” Rare says, “and we know this may disappoint fans who were looking to play the update this week. That said, our priority is to deliver a stable, polished and bug-free experience and we feel that the extra week of development will enable us to do this.” The official announcement hit today, following a post from executive producer Joe Neate last week suggesting that Forsaken Shores “may not release” according to the original schedule. This in turn follows a rocky update to the game earlier this month, which introduced an array of bugs and new gameplay features that didn’t get much testing time with beta players. It looks like Rare is slowing down the pace a bit to ensure the updates to follow are as well-polished as possible.
