Call of Duty’s Safeguard mode is coming back in Black Ops 4
Activision has just added a new game mode to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s multiplayer playlist. The Safeguard mode, which sounds pretty similar to Overwatch and Team Fortress 2’s Payload modes, will require players to actively work together to secure a win. The new mode was announced last night, alongside a bunch of other changes. Those include night-time versions of some multiplayer maps, balance tweaks to Blackout’s zombies, and a new melee weapon. In something of a change to the formula, most of these changes went live on all platforms last night, but Safeguard won’t arrive until December 4. An announcement on Reddit offers some extra detail about the new Safeguard mode. Players will need to “escort the [non-combative] robot into enemy territory and keep the opposing team from doing the same to secure then win.” The game mode first appeared in Black Ops 3, and each team earns a point whenever they complete their main objective for each round. At the end of the round, the attacking and defending teams switch sides.
