Testing Google’s game streaming service gets you a free copy of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Google’s Project Stream is - in theory - going to let you stream the latest and greatest in videogames to your Chrome browser, with all the computational heavy lifting handled remotely on a server. Right now, Google is holding a technical test for the service, and players have been able to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey via stream since it launched. Now, Ubisoft says you’ll get a free copy of Odyssey on Uplay just for trying it out on stream. Naturally, it’s not as simple as just signing up and waiting for a free copy to arrive. You do have to sign up for the Project Stream tech test, which you can do here. It’s a limited test, though, and Google is only bringing on ‘qualified’ participants, which probably means people with internet connections that can handle 25 megabits per second or more. You'll also have to be in the United States. Once you sign up, you’ll be able to play Assassin’s Creed: Origins for free via the stream, and partner Ubisoft is giving all participants 1,000 Helix credits just for trying it out. But if you play for an hour or more between now and January 15, you’ll also get a copy of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey to install and play locally through your Uplay account, free of charge.
