The Sims 4 has made $1 billion, and got nearly 5 million new players in 2018
Even if you - like me - fell off of The Sims some time before the release of the third game, you might be interested to learn that the series is still very successful and incredibly profitable. EA says that The Sims 4 has now brought in more than $1 billion over its lifetime, and it’s continuing to bring in new players even now, nearly half a decade after launch. “Our Sims 4 community grew by 4.8 million unique players last year, our monthly active players continued to grow year-over-year and we just crossed $1 billion in lifetime revenue for the game.” EA CEO Andrew Wilson says. “We continue to have strong expectations for The Sims going forward.” These numbers almost certainly include the console versions released in 2017, though probably not the mobile edition - even though that’s based on The Sims 4, it’s distinct and launched under a separate name. This info comes as part of EA’s third quarter financial report, where the company also discussed its strong sales expectations for Anthem. Wilson’s quotes come courtesy of the earnings call’s official transcript, as noted by SimsVIP.
