Google teases next week’s “future of gaming” reveal with a trailer

Google has been pumping a lot of money into its gaming initiative over the past handful of years, and the company will finally unveil what it has planned next week at a GDC keynote. We knew that much, but now Google has released a fresh teaser trailer offering up a few clues about what to expect ahead of that address. The trailer basically just shows a handful of gamey locations: an industrial hallway, a backstage area, a cavernous brook, a race garage, a military plane, a sparkly mushroom forest, a sci-fi hangar, and a medieval arena. You could pick out existing game analogues for any of those locales, but it doesn’t look like they’re drawing from any specific existing games. Google announced the date for its GDC keynote last week - it’ll be broadcast at 10:00 PDT / 13:00 EDT / 17:00 GMT on YouTube - and a recent patent discovery showed the company has plans for a new controller, too. Some players are expecting Google to put out a new console, but if you’re looking for something similar to the current PlayStation and Xbox, you might want to adjust your expectations.
