Turtle Beach is buying Roccat

Today, Turtle Beach entered into an agreement to acquire Roccat, which will see the headset maker roll the German peripheral manufacturer’s hardware line-up to its accessory portfolio. Turtle Beach, generally known as a console-focused manufacturer, already noted its plans to expand toward PC gaming as it launched the Atlas headset line last year, and according to a press release the Roccat acquisition “significantly accelerates” those plans. Turtle Beach is paying $14.8 million, $1 million in an option for cash or stock, and up to $3.4 million in earnout payments as part of the deal. Roccat’s partial year contribution to the company’s net revenue is expected to be between $20 million and $24 million, and revenue from the acquisition is expected to be $30 million in 2020. The deal gives Turtle Beach further leverage in PC-focused European markets, including Roccat’s native Germany, as well as new channels for distribution into Asian territories. Roccat products, in turn, will have the benefit of Turtle Beach’s existing distribution channels in both North American and European markets.
