Rumour: CD Projekt Red will reveal the target release date for Cyberpunk 2077 at E3
Someone who claims to have insider knowledge of what’s happening at Microsoft’s E3 showcase this year says that CD Projekt Red plans to reveal the Cyberpunk 2077 release date during the show, and unveil a new trailer.
Spieltimes spotted a thread on NeoGAF by a user named Braldryr, who describes themselves as “just a person who… let’s just say knows many people, some would rather argue that I know TOO MANY people.” Braldryr posted a lengthy info-dump of things they say are likely to be seen at E3 this year, as well as a raft of announcements that have a slight and very low chance of happening.
Braldryr says the Cyberpunk 2077 announcement is in the “going to happen” category; in other words, they consider this a dead certainty. And it makes a certain amount of sense - the last new footage we saw of the game was the 48 minute gameplay demo shown behind closed doors at E3 last year. But it’s not clear when CD Projekt Red plans on releasing the game - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had to be pushed back multiple times before it finally shipped in May 2015, so even if the initial target release date is sometime this year, it’s certainly possible that Cyberpunk 2077 gets pushed back into 2020.
